ABOUT BANANAMANA FILMS

BananaMana Films is a multi international award-winning Singapore production company that specializes in creating Asian scripted dramas in English for web, TV and film. Their first drama “What Do Men Want?” was broadcast on national TV in 2014 and was awarded “Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series”. Their second drama series “Perfect Girl” went on to win 7 international awards from 16 nominations. Their third project, “Bang Bang Club”, is in pilot stage but has already won a Remi Award (Houston International Film Festival) and two nominations at the Indie Series Awards in Los Angeles. Founded by Christian Lee and Jason Chan, BananaMana Films is currently working on two new dramas for regional audiences.

A digital series in 10 episodes which has gone on to win numerous international awards.

What Do Men Want?

What Do Men Want? was originally commissioned by the OTT platform Toggle.sg – prior to production the commissioning editors asked for it to be converted into a 13 x half hour TV series and it was later picked up by the National broadcaster of Singapore for free-to-air TV. It aired on MediaCorp Channel 5 in Oct 2014. This series won Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series at the LA Web Series Festival 2014.

Bang Bang Club

Bang Bang Club is a 20 min pilot created with support from the MDA with interest from online platform iFlix. The project is currently being considered by several platforms to be developed into a TV series or film. Completed in 2016 it has recently been nominated for Best Editing and Best Score at the Indie Series Awards (Los Angeles 2016) and has won a Remi award at the Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival 2016.

Jason Chan & Christian Lee

Two writer / directors who came from an acting background. Both are based in Singapore (having moved from the Australia and US respectively) and run the production company BananaMana Films Pte Ltd. Having started in corporate video production BananaMana Films quickly moved into creative video production for corporate companies and now create narrative content for the web, TV and film.

Christian Lee

Christian graduated from the William Esper Acting Studio in New York. In 2004 he won the Best Actor award at the Rome Italy Asian Film Fest 2004 for the Film “Outsiders”. Christian is also an award winning movie producer, for Best Family Feature at the Houston International Film Fest 2008 for the Chinese movie “Slam”, he was also the original executive producer for the NBA China Television Series “Made in NBA”. His short film “Flower” that he wrote, directed and edited was nominated as Best Short in the 2013 ASEAN International Film Festival.

Jason Chan

Initially a medical doctor, Jason studied acting at NIDA, Sydney before landing his first major role as the Green Samurai Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Storm. Soon after he moved to Singapore for multiple film, TV and theatre roles. However, he always had an urge to tell his own stories and started a production company with the aim of creating films and TV series. He is always focused on how to tell interesting, nuanced, long form stories in better ways. Moreover he is constantly working at maximizing efficiency in the production and post production workflow by using software and hardware advances and creativity.
