Perfect Girl Series – Behind the Scenes

A No-Budget Production

BananaMana Films has been invited on many occasions to give talks and workshops on the creation of web series and long form story telling. This is a brief glimpse behind the scenes of the Perfect Girl Series. Although it was created by just 4 creatives (2 of whom were also directing and acting) this no-budget series went on to win 7 international awards with no less than 3 Outstanding Drama Series awards from LA Webfest, Atlanta Webfest and Toronto Webfest.  Notably, Perfect Girl Series was in competition with well funded and government supported digital series from the US and Canada.

BananaMana Films prides itself in being a one stop shop for the creation of long form stories (whether it be TV series, Film or Web Series) focusing on all aspects of development and production from story concept to casting, directing – all the way to online color grade, music composition and visual effects.

The key is story, story and story. You have to get that right at first but once you’ve got your story don’t let any aspect of production get in the way of that voice. Make sure you’re there to guide every single little aspect from lighting to art direction to sound. Filmmaking is a very unforgiving medium – one little thing can easily let down a whole production. You have to be extremely rigorous in your eye for detail. It’s this discipline for detail rather than budget that lets most filmmakers down.
